Amira Al Amin Bio

I am a creative based in Cleveland, Ohio whose preferred medium is prose writing and play writing, with an interest in screenwriting. I lacked relatable, healthy queer literature and media growing up in the throngs of white suburbia so I created my own stories that focused on queer relationships, the queer experience and queer existence -- the majority of them exposing healthy, positive narratives that are lacking in today's popular queer media due to the romanticization of toxicity in LGBTQIA+ relationships. 
I have won the Julien Clement Chase Creative Writing in Washington Award and an Honorable Mention for the Claeyssens Playwriting both from my alma mater, George Washington University, upon graduating in the spring of 2023. I am seeking employment in the field of literature, whether that be book production or editing, as well as within the theatre industry -- specifically playwriting and directing, but I have experience with musical theatre that I am also interested in pursuing.
